Indications
Constipation - the drug can be used occasionally
Dryness of skin - applied topically
Dissolves latex - can be used to remove catheters which are difficult to remove (Esp. Foley's urinary catheters)
can be used in combination with magnesium as an osmotic laxative.

Caution
Unsuitable for regular use in constioation since it seeps from the anus and causes irritation
Interferes with the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins like A & D
May cause foreign-body granulomatous reactions in the intestines since it may be absorbed into the intestinal wall.
If it enters lungs - lipoid pneumonia
